The story of a former airline mechanic, Roy Koch and his daughter Melissa, connecting with workers in China to meet the person that is doing the outsourced job that Roy used to do. It is one family’s journey around the world to find out where Roy’s job went. While documenting the premeditated downfall of one of the world’s largest companies, Northwest Airlines, 'The Red Tail' searches for answers and global connections. This story starts where most films end, the unsuccessful quest of a labor union to keep their jobs in the face of globalization. Instead, this is the beginning of one worker's journey to find hope and possibility despite becoming a victim of outsourcing and a shifting global economy. 'The Red Tail' is steeped in one of the most compelling issues of our time – the disappearance if the American working-class through corporate outsourcing, and globalization. 'The Red Tail' is not your typical strike story or a painful look at life inside a labor battle, but a story about the meaning of solidarity - solidarity within families, between friends and even those believed to be enemies.
