Gangs of LA, 1991, tells the story of LA Cuzz, a product of Inner-City Los Angeles in the early 1990’s. Despite coming from a two parent, working class household, LA Cuzz is mesmerized with gang life and at the age of 13 gets “jumped in,” to his neighborhood set. LA Cuzz quickly adapts to gang culture - leading rival gang revenge killing sprees, running drugs, gambling, strip clubs, prison life and more.
LA Cuzz comes of age during a time when Los Angeles gang membership and violent crimes threatened to engulf an entire generation of Black youth, particularly as these gangs proliferated throughout the country and established satellite operations in small towns like St. Louis, New Orleans, etc.
Seeing a dead end, literally, in the gang lifestyle, LA Cuzz managed to get out alive. However, the unanswered question is whether he got out in time enough to save his family.
